Australian rules football is officially known as Australian football. It is a contact sport that where being played between two teams of 18 players on an oval shaped field, modified as a cricket ground.To score points in the game, is by kicking the oval shaped ball between the two tall goal posts. The team with the highest score by the end of the match wins unless a draw is declared.
In general play, the players may position themselves anywhere on the field where they can use any part of their bodies to move the ball.Kicking, hand balling and running with the ball is the primary methods in playing.
There are rules on how the ball should be handled, and below are the following examples:
Players running with the ball must intermittently bounce or touch it on the ground.
Throwing the ball is not allowed.
Players must not get caught holding the ball.
The mark, is a distinctive feature on the game, where players on the field who catch a ball from a kick with specific conditions are awarded possession.At all times, possession of the ball is in dispute except when a free kick or mark is paid.
Players can obstruct their opponents using their hands or their whole body.Pushing an opponent in the back, slowing the play, interference when marking are discouraged with free kicks, penalties or worst suspension for a certain number of matches depending on the seriousness of the violation.
To top it all, spectacular marking, frequent physical contests, fast movement of both the ball and players also high scoring are the main attributes of the game.
